Jordan Staal Signs Four Year Contract Extension

Jordan Staal has signed a four-year contract extension.

The new contract calls for Jordan Staal to make sixteen million dollars over the next four years, or an average of four million per year.

Is it too much?

It is a lot of money. Jordan Staal has not performed to expectations this year, and did not have an outstanding year last season either. I feel he has a tonne of potential, but this is a lot of money for team with very little cap space.

The Pittsburgh Penguins official website also notes that Staal will play on Sidney Crosby's wing in tonight's game. The Penguins site does not list a dollar figure when discussing Jordan Staal's new contract.

Jordan Staal has been the subject of a number of trade rumours this season and some are now speculating that his new contract and spot on the top line are ways of increasing his trade value.

I feel that if the Penguins can get Jordan Staal to mesh well on Sidney Crosby's wing it would reduce the need to sign another winger. Hopefully Jordan Staal learns to head to the net.

Jordan Staal has loads of potential! He helped lead the Pens to the Stanley Cup! Of course he's worth it!
