Game Recap: Penguins 9 - Islanders 2

Petr Sykora and Pascal Dupuis both scored their first career hat tricks as the Pittsburgh Penguins destroyed the New York Islanders 9-2. It was the Penguins first win in four games and the Islanders fifth loss in a row. The win was exactly what the Penguins needed as they had been slumping recently.

The story of the night was Petr Sykora finally scoring a hat trick after going so long without one. Until yesterday Sykora has scored more goals and had more two goal games than any player without a National Hockey League hat trick.

It was an absolutely dominant game for the Penguins and it couldn't have come at a better time. The Islanders aren't exactly contenders but the Penguins had not performed very well recently and the blow out victory will give them some confidence heading into Saturday's game in Philadelphia.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch the game (I always seem to miss the games when the Penguins dominate) so I don't have much to say here.

It was good to see Dupuis with a hat trick as well as he had been struggling recently. Does anyone know what's wrong with Maxime Talbot? He has been a non factor recently and didn't play much last night.

Saturday's game in Philly will be a good one as the Flyers have been hot recently.
