As mentioned in the recap yesterday, the Pittsburgh Penguins have traded Darryl Sydor to the Dallas Stars for Phillipe Boucher.
Also last night, Evgeni Malkin regained his spot atop the NHL scoring list. His four point night, combined with the fact that Semin did not play last night, put him three points ahead of Semin for the top spot. In third is our friend Marian Hossa, followed by Sidney Crosby. Semin sat out Washington's game against the New Jersey Devils last night with an undisclosed upper body injury. Without Semin the Capitals lost to the Devils 6-5 in a shootout. The victory for the Devils snapped their four game losing streak and it also ended the Capitals five game winning streak.
The Boston Bruins five game winning streak also came to an end last night as the New York Rangers defeated the Bruins 3-2. With the win the Ranger are four points ahead of the Penguins for top spot in the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference. The Rangers have played three more games than the Penguins.
The Philadelphia Flyers were also victorious last night, defeating the Eastern Conference All Star Team by a score of 2-1. The Habs have lost four out of their last five.
