Today all is right in the world. Finally his chance has come and the world will see what a difference he can make. Of course, I am referring to Michel Ouellet being recalled from the AHL by the Vancouver Canucks. What else could I have been talking about? Former Penguin Ouellet was traded from the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Vancouver Canucks on October 6th after clearing waivers. This will be Ouellet's third NHL team.
Derick Brassard has been named NHL Rookie of the Month for October. The Columbus Blue Jackets center lead all rookies in scoring with four goals and five assists in 10 games.
Indecisive forward Mats Sundin met with Brian Burke of the Anaheim Ducks yesterday for about an hour. The Ducks have very little room under the salary cap so a few moves or a huge paycut would be in order if Sundin wanted to play there.
In two somewhat confusing ways the NHL has announced the All-Star Ballot list. The Montreal Canadiens and the Detroit Red Wings each lead the NHL with six representatives on the ballot. The Penguins have five, Marc-Andre Fleury, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and - for some reason - Sergei Gonchar and Ryan Whitney. How can two players who have yet to play this season be listed on the ballot? Voting begins on November 12th at Vote.NHL.com and the results will be available in real time as they come in. However, the site is not up yet. That's almost as confusing as how two players who have not played make the ballot.

The Pittsburgh Penguins will unveil their new third jersey today. It's been rumoured that the jersey will be similar enough to the Winter Classic jerseys that people will like the nostalgic feel, but different enough that people will buy another jersey.
