Brodeur Out 3-4 Months

This is bad news for the New Jersey Devils.  Martin Brodeur is going to have elbow surgery and will miss up to four months of action.  Kevin Weekes will take the starting role in his absence.

I have to say, this reminds me of Fleury's injury last season.  In fact, it's much worse for the Devils.  Brodeur is more than just a great goalie for them.  He is their franchise player and their leader.  I'd say it's more similar to when Crosby went down last season.  Actually, it's probably like when both Fleury and Crosby missed time with injuries last season.  As you know, the rest of the Penguins team (mainly Evgeni Malkin and Ty Conklin) stepped it up and the Penguins were successful despite the injuries.

Will anyone on New Jersey be able to do the same thing?  Brodeur has dominated the Devils' net for years.  Before missing yesterday's game he had started in 51 consecutive regular season games.  In the last three seasons combined Kevin Weekes has played in only 55 games.  Will the team rally and find a way to win without their star goaltender?  Or will this injury spell the end of the Devils playoff hopes?
