The Sky is Falling! 5-4 BOLTS [SO]

Fleury didn't look to be his best, which will only be a concern if it continues for a significant time into the season.

Crosby was awesome, as usual.  The shorthanded goal he scored was a thing of beauty.

Gonchar was hurt, which is the true bad news to come out of this game.  Hopefully it's not serious.  We don't need anymore defenders out.  Speaking of defense, Goligoski seemed to have a good game (I didn't see anything more than the highlights, and I only heard the 3rd period on the Lightning's radio affiliate - "SCOOOOOOOOORE!!!!" God he was annoying.)

Godard stood up for Sarge and battled Koci after the hit.  Good for him.

Many are saying the Pittsburgh South B Team beat the Penguins A team (including Mr. Hyper Active Lightning Announcer) which to an extent is true, but the Pens only fielded about half of their regular team and I doubt the desire to win was there.  Even Sid said it's a big letdown when your last game was in the Stanley Cup finals.

I'm not sure how Pesonen did, but in a post-game interview he sounded like he really wants to win, which is a good sign.

I've almost forgotten about the departed players already, though I would have liked to see Malone or Roberts return to the Igloo yesterday.  Prediction: Malone gets boos, Roberts gets cheers.

I realised how much I truly missed hockey during this game.  It's good to have it back.

I can't wait until the regular season.
